This article continues the one I posted in April 2014 (click here to read it).

So I made a brief selection of pieces for baritone solo, with electronics, with piano and chamber music, which allows you to supplement your classroom work with other saxophones in the conservatory.

Many works have been left out, but I will later write another article with more repertoire.

1) Baritone Saxophone Solo

Technical Elements: Big intervals. Tonguing accuracy. Breathing control (long phrases). Variety of articulations (including slaps). Altissimo register with fast excerpts. Solid pulsation.
Performance: To create two simultaneous melodies between the low and the treble/altissimo registers. Play with a solid pulsation with the character of modern music (funk).

Irregular groups of notes. Multiphonics in soft dynamics. Variety of articulations. Slaps. Frullatti. Eolic sounds. Growl. Bend. Overtones and voice.
Performance: Constant research of timbres and character changes.

Technical Elements: Wide range of dynamics (especially in PPPP). Fluctuating tempo. Bisbigliandi with different fingerings and speeds. Trills and tremolos. Keys sounds. Multiphonics. Aeolian sounds. Slaps. Some very fast excerpts. Flatter. Portamenti. Voice.
Performance: Play to the limits of sound and silence. Play theatrically the recitative part with lots of energy on the slaps and smorzati notes.

TROIS RÊVES EN MUSIQUE (2015), José Luis Campana.   [Watch the video
Babel Scores, Paris (F). 16 pages. Duration: ca. 10:30. Contemporary music.
Level: VERY HIGH. Range (written): A2 – B6
Technical elements: Wide palette of dynamics and timbres. Glissandi and portamenti. Diversity of articulations. Very fast and intense vibratos. Microtones (1/4 of tones). Smorzatti. Flatterzunge. Extreme altissimo register.
Performance: To play with lots of expressive energy. To create very intense, perturbing and even violent frames of mind. Scenic attitude. Very contrasted changes of character. It should also be played with a biggest as possible tam (gong).

DREAMLOVER (2017), Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska.   [Watch the video]

Performance skills: Expressive character changes. Phrasing. Scenic attitude. Coordination with the feet when playing. It should be also played with a wooden blacelet on the ankle of foot to produce trills.

2) Baritone Saxophone and Electronics

Performance skills: Play the first part with lot of flexibility and very well slur. The second part of the piece has to be played with the character of modern music (jazz, bebop).
