On Friday 3rd of December, I performed with composer and sound artist Joan Bagés i Rubí at Festival Bruits Blancs in Bagnols-les-Bains (France). As Morphosis Duo, we presented our old project SCRATCH! including Mercè Capdevila’s “A Chillida” and Bages’ “Holofonia v1.1”, as a sample of the recent composition for baritone saxophone and electronics from Catalonia.
The event started with French artist Julia Robert who, with her viola d’amour (an usual instrument from Baroque age) and a large set of pedal effects, presented her project Alètheia. Next, we watched six beautiful and short pieces of video-art as a sample of the festival Vidéoformes, held yearly in Clermont-Ferrand (France) between the end of winter and the beginning of spring since 1984.
On this video from TéléDraille, the webTV of Cevennes, you can see some excerpts of the three performances as well as an introduction to the Festival Bruits Blancs. One of the goals of this multidisciplinary (music, literature and audio-visuals) is to bring the audience closer to the new artistic creation (no matter the number of inhabitants of each municipality) and, after eleven editions, it has consolidated a very strong cultural net in southern France.
Art, no matter its different disciplines, is constantly evolving and, fortunately, is not only produced in large urban centres. We must be attentive to don’t waste the opportunity to appreciate it.
