This work is included in my first solo album Believer.
Jackdaw is originally written for bass clarinet and it was commissioned by the great master of this instrument, Harry Sparnaay. A few years later, the composer adapted it for baritone saxophone.
The predominant rhythmic character of this work and its fast excerpts are related to the cleverness of this European bird, a jackdaw. The continuous changes of character throughout the piece make it very entertaining for the audience.
