Prestissimo con fuoco from TRE INTERMEZZI, for Woodwind Trio. Thierry Escaich
SIGMA TRIO was a chamber music project created in 2004 by Oriol Mula, Mateu Ferré and I. During three years (2004-2007) we toured all over Spain, we commissioned and premiered many works by some Spanish and Catalan composers and we were awarded at T.I.M. competition in Rome (Italy) in 2006.
TRE INTERMEZZI (1990) is an intense piece of chamber music for an unusual formation: flute, clarinets (Bb and bass) and saxophones (alto and baritone). This work is influenced by many elements of the music by Olivier Messiaen as the complexity of rhythms, dynamic contrasts and his modes of limited transposition. Each intermezzo is composed for a different instrumental combination and also creates a different atmosphere.
Hereby the first one, recorded live in concert in Vall d’Uixò (Castelló, Spain) in November 19th, 2006.
- Oriol Mula, flute
- Mateu Ferré, clarinet
